Thompson Motorsports

Thompson Motorsports first came into existence in the late 1960’s when Bruce Thompson began his racing career on the local drag racing circuit.  Bruce then made the transition to dirt, oval-track stock cars, then on to sprint cars in the early 1980’s.  Thompson Motorsports is truly a family operation as in the mid-1990's Bruce transitioned to the team’s operating manager, and his son Len became the team’s driver.  Bruce’s wife Bev has been officially listed as the team’s owner, while also writing a popular weekly column about the Pennsylvania Sprint Car scene in a national racing trade newspaper based out of Trenton, NJ for over 10 years.  Thompson Motor Service was carried as the team's primary sponsor for over 3 decades and it's tough to talk about Thompson Motor Service without also mentioning Thompson Motorsports.

Throughout the mid-1990's and early 21st century the Thompson Motorsports team proved to be a top contender on the challenging Central PA 410 sprint car circuit with Len picking up 8 Feature event victories and dozens of top 3 finishes.  The team has been a regular Friday night competitor at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg and has also competed regularly on Saturday nights at both Port Royal Speedway and Lincoln Speedway in Hanover, while competing in over 50 races per year.

The Thompson Motorsports Team has ceased operations as of the conclusion of the 2004 season.  No immediate plans to hit the track are in place at this time, but it's certainly possible that Thompson Motorsports could field a Thompson Motor Service sponsored machine at some point in the future.
